By Josh Haggis
‘s Laverne Cox is to present a US TV documentary about young transgender people.
The trans actress will also serve as an executive producer on the documentary, which will be a joint production between MTV and LGBT cable network Logo TV.
Titled Trans Teen: The Documentary, the one-hour show will focus on the lives of four transgender youths aged between 14 and 24, who hail from various locations in the US, Buzzfeed reports.
Each of the four young people featured in the show reached out to Cox themselves, MTV and Logo TV have explained, which meant there was no need for traditional “castings”. The documentary is set to air this autumn.
Meanwhile, Cox was honoured earlier this month (April) at the GLAAD Media Awards for her efforts to increase understanding of the LGBT community.
The actress will soon be seen in season two of Orange Is The New Black, which will debut in full on Netflix on June 6.
