Ivanka Trump and her husband worked to block anti-LGBT order
President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, and her husband allegedly helped block an anti-LGBT executive order from being signed this week.
The executive order would make it legal for people with religious or moral objections to discriminate against LGBT people.
According to Politico, first daughter Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner, a senior advisor at the White House, used their positions to influence President Trump to uphold Barack Obama’s 2014 order which protects LGBT employees from discrimination at the workplace.
On Tuesday (January 31), the White House issues a statement, claiming that “President Donald J. Trump is determined to protect the rights of all Americans, including the LGBTQ community.”
“The executive order signed in 2014, which protects employees from anti-LGBTQ workplace discrimination while working for federal contractors, will remain intact.”
A White House spokesperson told Politico that the draft was one of the many circulating Trump’s administration and there are no plans “at this time” to sign any such order.
