Irish anti same-sex campaigners liken support to ‘voting for Sharia Law’
By Ryan Love

Irish campaigners against same-sex marriage have said that a ‘yes’ vote in the upcoming referendum would be like voting for Sharia Law.
Last week, Taoiseach Enda Kenny (pictured) confirmed that the Marriage Equality Referendum would take place on May 22nd.

A reporter from Her.ie was handed a leaflet at a Divine Mercy Conference by a member of the Alliance for the Defence of the Family and Marriage (ADFAM). The document, titled ‘Why Should I Vote Against Same-Sex Marriage?’ lists a number of reasons designed to encourage voters not to support same-sex marriage. Branding it a “confidence trick”, the list claims that same-sex marriage is “very short-lived, and promiscuous”.

“They will still contract cancers earlier in life. The average life expectancy in same-sex relationships is 60 years. Statistically they are, more than average, subject to alcoholism, illegal drug abuse, depression and suicide,” it stated.
ADFAM went on to add that a ‘yes’ vote would be like “voting for the Islamist law known as ‘sharia law’,” before claiming that “persecution of Christians surely will follow, and it will become a climb to teach and preach Christian morality”.
The news follows a warning for members of the Irish LGBT community to be vigilant for increased homophobia, after reports that men had been targeted on dating apps.
