Hollywood legend Burt Reynolds says Charlie Sheen ‘deserves’ HIV

Burt Reynolds has responded to Charlie Sheen’s recent public disclosure about his HIV status by saying that the former Two and a Half Men “deserves” to have the virus.
Appearing on ITV’s Loose Women yesterday, the veteran Hollywood actor and producer admitted he had “no” sympathy for Sheen after his years of ‘misbehaving’.
Asked how past rumours about his own health and HIV status made him feel about Sheen’s recent announcement that he was living the virus, Reynolds told host Ruth Langsford: “He’s handled it badly, I think.”
“His father [Hollywood actor Martin Sheen] is a very, very decent man and a dear friend of mine, I feel bad for him – for Charlie, I don’t feel bad for him.
“He’s getting what he deserves. If you’re going to misbehave like that, then they’re going to get you.”
Asked if he had any sympathy at all for the former Two and Half Men star, the 79-year-old replied: “For Charlie, no, he deserves it. He misbehaved badly. Very badly. But you know when you’re that age, it’s tough.
“All those things are coming at you and it’s difficult.”
Reynolds’ comments come after Two and Half Men’s Jenny McCarthy publicly slammed Sheen for not telling co-stars involved in romantic scenes with him about his status.
Meanwhile, former Who’s the Boss star Danny Pintauro – who made headlines around the world after opening up about his crystal meth addiction and HIV status in a candid interview with Oprah in September – has praised the actor for going public about his health, arguing that society is poised to change the way it treats people living with the virus.
