Grindr, Tinder to blame for rise in STDs, says health expert

Dating apps like Grindr and Tinder have been blamed for the rise in STDs.
Peter Greenhouse, a sexual health expert from the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV, said that people can now “acquire chlamydia in five minutes” because of the apps.
From 2012 to 2013, there was a significant rise in reported cases of Gonorrhoea and Syphilis.
Greenhouse said: “You don’t have to be a genius to work out that these sorts of apps make having casual sex a damn sight easier.
“You can find, down to a metre or two, the nearest available person who is interested. This is something that just hasn’t been available before. Thanks to Grindr or Tinder, you can acquire chlamydia in five minutes.”
The founder of Grindr recently claimed that using the app encourages people to ‘raise their game’ – read more here.
