Glee star Mark Salling indicted on child pornography charges

Former Glee star Mark Salling has reportedly been indicted on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography.

Sallingg, who is best know for portraying Noah ‘Puck’ Puckerman on the hit television series for six season between 2009-15, was originally arrested and released on bail in Los Angeles last December after a laptop, a hard drive and a USB flash drive were seized from his home.

Thousands of images and videos depicting child pornography were found on the devices seized from during the raid the 33-year-old’s address, which reportedly came following a tip-off to authorities.

“These images are more than photographs, they are child abuse,” said Lt. Andrea Grossman, commander of the LAPD Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

According to CNN, “Federal authorities charged him in a two-count indictment Friday, the Justice Department said in a statement.”

US Attorney Eileen M. Decker said: “Those who download and possess child pornography create a market that causes more children to be harmed. Young victims are harmed every time an image is generated, every time it is distributed, and every time it is viewed.”

In the US, receiving child pornography carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in federal prison and a maximum sentence of 20 years. Possessing child pornography carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison.

According to the Justice Department, Mark intends to turn himself in to federal authorities on Friday (June 3).
