Gay student in drag reportedly attacked in London’s Soho

A gay student has been injured in an apparent homophobic attack in London’s gay heartland, Soho.

Benedict Stewardson, 20, says he was stood outside The Box in Soho dressed as a drag queen on Thursday night (October 30) when he was physically assaulted by a passer-by.

He alleges that he was punched in the jaw by the man after he responded to a group of men walking past who told him that “it’s not Halloween yet”.

London’s Westminster Police are currently treating the attack as a hate crime, reports The Mirror.

Meanwhile, a man who sprayed two gay men with bleach outside a club in Vauxhall earlier this year has recently been sentenced to over two years in prison. Read the full story here.
