Gay dads from Campbell’s soup ad make People’s Sexiest Men Alive list

By Will Stroude

We already knew that the gay dads who starred in a memorable new advert for Campbell’s soup earlier this year were totally adorable, but that fact has now been officially confirmed by People magazine, who’ve named Larry Sullivan and husband David Monahan in their annual Sexiest Men Alive list.

The pair, who starred in the inclusive new commercial with their real-life son Cooper last month, were honoured with the title of Sexiest Pitchmen Alive 2015. Former England football captain David Beckham was previously revealed as the overall title winner in a surprise segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live last week (November 17).

Speaking to People about the unexpected success of the Campbell’s ad – which has been viewed over a million times on YouTube since its release last month – Larry says: “I didn’t realise it would blow up and become the big deal it has become.”

He continues: “Neither of us have been on the ‘I’m an activist’ train, and I still don’t think we really are, because all we’re doing is just living our lives. But it just so happens that our spot is entering people’s living rooms that normally probably wouldn’t let us into their homes, and they don’t really have a choice.”

Hubby David adds: “All we’re trying to do is pay for preschool and our mortgage! But we’re happy to be that couple who put ourselves out there to just show that families come in all shapes and sizes.”

Congrats, Larry and David! Can we get a sequel soon please?

Meanwhile, one concerned homophobe who recently took her complaints about Larry and David to the Campbell’s Facebook page got absolutely OWNED by another user – click here to it check it out.
