A gay performance artist has pledged to have sex with a different man every day for a year – in the name of art.

Berlin-based artist Mischa Badasyan, 26, will begin the project – titled ‘Save The Date’ – in September, and says that his goal for the year-long endeavour is to explore the link between loneliness and casual sex.

Badasyan says the project is inspired by his experiences with gay dating apps such as Grindr and Scruff – and hopes to turn “non-spaces” such as supermarkets and airports into places of “real human connection” by having sex in them.

“It’s going to be my most sophisticated and dangerous work of art, in terms of mental health,” Badasyan told Arts.Mic. “It’s going to be pretty hard — and to be honest, I’m a little bit scared.”

“I don’t deny that it’s a bit egoistic,” he continued. “It’s okay. It’s performance art, and a performance artist should always be pushing his own body and the performance. The whole idea, why it’s art, why it’s a performance, is the process — the process of finding someone.”

Badasyan’s project recalls that of gay British art student Clayton Pettet, who earlier this year pledged to lose his virginity in public in the name of art. Read more here.
