By Sam Rigby
Ellen Page has responded to a letter she received from a pastor denouncing her sexuality.
The actress – who came out earlier this year – said that she prefers the ‘arms of a girl’ to the ‘arms of the Heavenly Father’ in a tweet posted on Saturday (March 22).
Her full message read: “2 da Pastor who wrote me-Being gay isn’t a belief. My soul isnt struggling& I don’t want arms of Heavenly Father around me.A girls arms? Yes.”
The post has been retweeted almost 8,000 times, as well being favourited by nearly 16,000 users.
Last month, Ellen said that she was “moved” by the support she received after speaking about her sexuality in a speech at the Human Rights Campaign’s Time to Thrive conference in Las Vegas.
In her speech, the actress said: “I’m here today because I am gay. And because maybe I can make a difference – to help others have an easier and more hopeful time. Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility.”
