A couple who ran multiple gay conversion therapy camps are facing a felony indictment for human trafficking.
Gary and Meghan Wiggins ran the religious gay conversion therapy camp Joshua Home, in Texas, which was for ‘troubled boys’ as well as similar camps in Alabama, which was investigated a year ago, and Missouri.
But following an investigation after a search warrant was granted, eight boys – aged between 10 and 17 – were placed into temporary CPS custody, CBS Austin reported.
Earlier this month, a Burnet County grand jury indicted the couple after evidence was presented following an extensive investigation.
The couple were indicted on one count each of trafficking of persons: continuous, a violation of Texas Penal Code 20A.03 (e), a First Degree Felony.
On a Facebook post by Burnet County Sheriff’s Office, it said: “The Wiggins were arrested without incident in Escambia County, Alabama.
“They waived extradition and were transported to the Burnet County Jail where they remain in custody. A bond amount of $100,000 has been set for each.
“These charges will be prosecuted by the 33rd/424th District Attorney’s Office in Burnet County.
“No further information will be released at this time.”
