Couple viciously attacked by six men as they leave French gay club

By Will Stroude

A couple in Montpelier, France were savagely beaten in a homophobically-motivated attack as they left a gay club on Tuesday night (November 10).

Clément Grobotek‘s account of the brutal assault and a picture of his injuries have gone viral on Facebook over the last few days. He and his boyfriend Aaron – who remains unable to speak due to his injuries – had abuse shouted at them from a passing car before their assailants got out and attacked them, leaving them both requiring hospital treatment.

“I managed to remain conscious, but when I turned around, I saw that my boyfriend was down and he had blood in the head,” Clément wrote in his Facebook post, which has been shared almost 40,000 times since being posted on Wednesday morning shortly after the attack.

He also had a powerful message for the barbaric men responsible.

“Obviously, in addition to being intolerant, you are also cowards! But you know what? You will always be powerless! You can strike and strike again, you never will remove the smile you see on my face, and will not prevent me from loving my guy more than any!”
