Naomi Campbell has spoken of her support of diversity in the fashion world.

Speaking at the 2014 GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles, she said that trans models should be welcomed on the runway.

The supermodel took to the stage to introduce Ellen Page, who came out as gay earlier this year.

She said: “I encourage even more diversity in the fashion world, that includes welcoming trans models to the runways.”

She also took the opportunity to praise Lea T and RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni Carmen Carrera for their work in the industry.

“Much love Lea T and also to Carmen Carrera,” she said. “The truth is LGBT culture and fashion go hand in hand. They flourish in light of making bold and brave statements.”
