Caitlyn Jenner ‘not comfortable’ with idea of gender confirmation surgery

By Ben Kelly

Caitlyn Jenner has revealed she’s unsure whether she’ll ever have gender confirmation surgery, in a new clip from her reality TV show I Am Cait.

Speaking to the transgender friends who feature in much of the show, Jenner is seen to say, “The last six months of my life have been really enlightening, but one thing I’m really not comfortable with is this issue of gender confirmation surgery.”

One of her friends admits it’s “something that everyone has to wrestle with individually,” and that Jenner “needs to find her truth.”

The 66-year-old reality star and former Olympian has already undergone some cosmetic surgery, notably on her face, but now it appears she’s not sure about this one particular aspect of her transition.

Another friend reassures her that, “there are a lot of people who never had surgery and yet they’re still men or women,” before asking, “Are you reluctant to learn more about this?”

Jenner simply responds: “How do I answer that?”

She has previously admitted that her occasional lack of understanding of trans issues means she does not want to be seen as a spokesperson for the community, and that she still has much more to learn about gender identity.
