Britney Spears rumoured for London pantomime this year

By Ben Kelly

She might be wrapped up in Las Vegas at the moment for her extended residency at Caesars’ Planet Hollywood Casino, but rumours are circulating that Britney Spears is set to appear in a pantomime this winter in London.

The pop princess has allegedly been offered the lead role in Cinderella at the London Palladium, for the hefty sum of £500,000. It will be the first pantomime put on by the capital’s top entertainment venue for 30 years.

An insider close to the deal said, “The final agreement hasn’t yet been signed but everyone is confident and hopeful it will be sorted very shortly so an official announcement can be made. Britney was one of a number of big name stars who were approached – you name a female star they were approached – but the others didn’t work out and they have opted for her.”

According to the Mirror, the role was also offered to Kylie Minogue and Kim Kardashian, but 34-year-old Spears is now seen as the golden goose for the production.

“A star of her standing isn’t cheap – but she will be worth every penny if she can attract sell-out audiences,” they said, adding, “Everyone is very excited – It is all about bums on seats and creating a buzz. Cinderella is going to be mega – definitely *the* show to attend in London this winter.”

CINDERELLA PALLADIUM

It would be an unprecedented move for Spears, who is performing her Piece of Me show in Las Vegas until September 2016, although she’s not the first U.S. diva to tread the boards in a British panto. Pamela Anderson starred in Aladdin in 2010, and Priscilla Presley is another regular fixture on the panto circuit.

Tickets for the show, which will run from 9 December 2016 to 15 January 2017, are already on sale. For the best deals on tickets and shows, visit tickets.attitude.co.uk
