Boston has approved an application for a ‘Straight Pride Parade’.

Mark Sahady is a member of the right-wing group Resist Marxism and is one of the organisers between the ridiculous march with Republicans John Hugo and Chris Bartley.

On the website for the parade, it claims that straight people are an ‘oppressed majority’ and are demanding the same parade route as the Boston Pride Parade.

Although the application has faced backlash from LGBTQ people and allies, it appears the group – which is called Super Happy Fun America – have had their application approved by city officials.

At the press conference on Thursday (June 27), Hugo – the president of Super Happy Fun America – said their intention is not to mock the Pride events, the New York Times reported.

He said: “I agree it is unusual to have something like this, but a lot of things seem unpopular at first but then they become mainstream.

We don’t hate anyone, we just want to have our own celebration just like everybody else has a right to. All people from all communities are welcome as long as they show respect.”

The parade is set to take place on August 31.
