‘1 Thing’ singer Ameriie returns with new single

US singer Ameriie has marked her comeback with the release of a new single – her first since 2009.

The R&B songstress unveiled a psychedelic lyric video for the track, What I Want, on YouTube on Tuesday (May 3), following a teaser clip last month.

The track, a summery funk banger,  was written by Ameriie herself and features a sample from Sugar Hill Gang’s iconic hip-hop hit Apache (Jump On It).

Ameriie first emerged on the music scene in 2002, and is best known for her 2005 hit 1 Thing, which reached number four on the UK’s Official Singles Chart.  She later scored hits with Take Control and Gotta Work.
