Emeli Sandé has come out and shared that she is now in a relationship with a woman.

The ‘Next To Me’ singer was previously married to marine biologist Adam Gouraguine in 2012 but the couple divorced two years later.

Speaking to the Metro exclusively, Sandé, 35, said she feels her new partner, a classical pianist, is “the one for life”.

“I definitely feel happier than ever”

The former medical student turned singer says: “We met through music. And I definitely feel happier than ever. It feels great.”

“For me, true love and having love in your life makes everything fit into place,” she adds.

She continues: “If you don’t really have someone to share it with or someone supporting you behind the scenes, it’s very difficult. So now I feel very fulfilled: I’ll always love music and I love my career but now it just feels that despite what happens, I can just enjoy life and be really happy.

Emeli also says she doesn’t necessarily define herself by any particular label.

“I’m not sure what I identify as but I guess so. I just feel like I should fall in love with whoever I fall in love with.”

The ‘Heaven’ singer also says that she has a strong connection with the gay community and has appeared at Heaven nightclub multiple times.

Emeli’s new album, Let’s Say For Instance, is out in May.

Attitude’s new-look March/April issue is out now.
