Hotel try-out: Hoxton Hotel makes Amsterdam debut

By Nick Byam

Situated on Herengracht canal, Amsterdam, the latest Hoxton Hotel provides guests with views of Amsterdam’s finest canals. Local Interior design duo Nicemakers have produced an interior that reflects the building’s heritage, spreading across five floors and home to 111 rooms. Room size can vary from the modest Shoebox, going up to the Roomy, which is the most spacious.

This is the first Hoxton Hotel located outside of London – however, you will find yourself with an equal amount of perks, including free Wi-Fi, breakfast bags with bananas, granola and OJ, one hour of free global phone calls and a fridge stocked with water and fresh milk.

Perks aside, the bedrooms are also home to a series of unique features. These include monumental ceilings that have been intricately restored, as well as attic rooms featuring ceiling beams. All rooms are complimented by en-suites with rainfall showers and Pen & Ink amenities, by the creative collaboration by the Hoxton team and alchemist Liza Witte and illustrator Hedof.

Another Hoxton partnership can be found in the restaurant – Lotti’s. The partnership with Soho House & Co serves Italian-inspired dishes from breakfast through to dinner, near to the decadent lobby space which greets guests with a spiral staircase leading to ‘Up Top’ – a mezzanine bar open for coffee and cocktails.

Then there is the Apartment, a meeting and event space by day and bar for events or private dining by night. The Apartment is a combination of five rooms and a central pantry kitchen that provides visitors with access to condiments during the day. On top of all this, the Hoxton’s a thriving hub of activity: check the monthly events calendar where you can access a large range of events from inspirational talks with established and emerging brands to a pop-up tattoo parlour and beach bar.
