A gay friendly Ibiza hotel with a modern twist

Sol House Ibiza breathes new life into the club destination.

By Will Stroude

If you’re thinking about heading to Ibiza this summer – and why wouldn’t you be? – then look no further than Sol House Ibiza.

One of the hotel’s main appeals is its roof terrace, which is open through the day and night and offers unparalleled views of the ocean and surrounding hills.

You get all the best bits of being at a beach location without having to deal with hoards of fellow beach-goers throwing sand in your face. Holiday goals.

With food and cocktails available on-demand and an infinity pool to cool off in, there’s essentially zero excuse to leave the hotel.

You’ve got DJ sets through the day, and at night the hotel holds rooftop parties that go on until the early hours catering to every music taste, and with the temperatures remaining hot throughout the evening you get to watch the sunset cocktail in-hand. The UK really could never.

But if you can tear yourself away from the hotel, the nearby coastal walks offer breathtaking views and secluded beach areas that many tourists don’t bother searching out. Don’t be that guy – your Instagram deserves this.

Thanks to the great location of the hotel, you’re never more than 20 minutes in a cab to the bustling nightlife that the island is famed for. Whether it’s house or pop music that gets you going, the strip caters to everyone’s needs and the crowds are surprisingly friendly.

While it can be nerve wracking holding hands with your partner as part of the LGBT community in a strange place, we never felt out of place or made to feel uncomfortable.

The rooms of the hotel offer every convenience you could think of and have the added bonus of a balcony when you’re craving the sun but keen to nurse than hangover away from the crowds. They’re bright, modern and airy and, most importantly, the beds are actually comfortable.

With the hotel aimed at millennials, it goes without saying it’s incredibly lgbt-friendly. The like-minded staff are welcoming and accommodating, and you’ll find yourself making friends with other guests in no time. With pop music blasting in the reception on a daily basis, we can’t really complain either. They know us so well.

Between the DJ in reception and the actual life-size model rhino just chilling next to him, it’s easy to see why the hotel’s quirky design and vibrant nature appeal to so many 20-somethings.

As well as a rooftop terrace there’s also a huge pool and lounging area that connects directly onto Punta Pinet beach. It’s the best place to catch a tan so you’re looking bronzed before the wild night out you promised yourself wouldn’t happen, and you can order food and beers straight to your lounger.

If you want to extend your weekend into Monday, then Sol House has you all sorted with their ShineDays party where there’s an array of Swarovski sparkles to help you get that perfect Instagram snap as the sun sets.

With events beginning around 7pm, they’re the perfect way to warm up being taking fully advantage of the nightlife Ibiza has to offer.
