Tom Hardy shows off his rugged body for Esquire

By Will Stroude

Attitude favourite Tom Hardy has been busy showing off his rugged bod in the latest issue of Esquire, where he talks about what attracts him to some of Hollywood’s more unhinged roles.

In an exclusive new interview for the magazine, the Oscar-nominated actor and former Attitude cover star, who received rave reviews for his portrayal of both Reggie and Ronnie Kray in gangster biopic Legend last year, reveals how playing bad boys helps him hone his craft.

“There’s a part of me that wants to do different stuff, but there’s a part of me that goes: do you know what? I want to carry on playing gangsters because every time you go a little bit deeper in that study,” he explains.

“Why switch it up and be rice-paper thin? ‘Oh, he’s good because he’s doing a musical now!’ You know what I mean? It’s like, ‘Look at me! I’m trying to please people!’”

He adds: “I enjoy the nuttery in my work. So that’s probably why when somebody goes, ‘Do you want to plan another loony?’ I go, ‘Yeah, I would actually, yeah.’”

The full interview appears in the January 2017 issue of Esquire, on sale from December 6. Check out some of the snaps from Tom’s shoot with Greg Williams below:
