JoJo Siwa has been celebrating the one-year anniversary of her coming out and says she has felt “more love than ever” since she publicly addressed her sexuality.

Posting on her Instagram on Sunday (23 January), the 18-year-old recalled posting her announcement on her social media with a picture of herself in a t-shirt bearing the words “Best. Gay. Cousin. Ever.”

At the time she said she had “never ever been this happy,” and told fans she wasn’t ready to label herself beyond coming out.

“I’ve felt more love than ever”

In a post where she shared the same image of her in the aforementioned t-shirt, JoJo says: “🏳️‍🌈In the last 365 days I’ve felt more love than ever. A year ago today I posted this picture and shared with the world that I was gay🌈

“I get asked a lot “was coming out scary for you”… and the answer is yes of course, anything that’s different about you is scary, however… it’s what makes me… me. so I had no fear with sharing it with the world❤️

On questions about young people coming out JoJo says she feels “truthfully” that “I was put on this earth to be a role model for kids, and letting all the kids of the world know that loving everyone for who they are no matter what is something that I will always believe in and always share”.

She then encourages her followers, and other young people to “please never forget that no matter who you are, what you look like, who you LOVE that you are absolutely perfect,” before thanking people “for showing me the most love throughout this year and throughout my entire life.”

The Dance Moms star concludes: “I love you all❤️🙏🏼🏳️‍🌈”

The caption accompanies a series of images including one of her cover of People magazine, a snapshot of her competing on Dancing with the Stars, and some TikToks.

She told People magazine last April that “Technically I would say that I am pansexual because that’s how I have always been my whole life is just like, my human is my human,” and that she uses the term queer as her identifier.

Last November, JoJo and her partner, Kylie Prew, announce they were splitting after getting together last February.
