A college soccer player who is gay and made waves on TikTok with his anonymous account has discussed his unique coming out story in a new interview.
University of Tampa junior Josh Leafer, who boasts 61.7k followers and 1.1m likes on the platform, was initially anonymous on his account, saying in February2020: “Anyone else like totally straight but secretly gay?”
Previously operating under the profile name @clostedfratguy, 20-year-old Josh came out in a video last August – and has now opened up about his sexuality on The Sports Kiki podcast with OutSports.
“Anyone else like totally straight but secretly gay?”
“I was just letting people know they’re not alone,” said Josh, from Massachusetts. “Even if I’m not telling people who I don’t personally know, just saying those words out loud that I’m gay and I’m struggling makes you feel better. That weight lifts off your shoulders.”

Josh, whose profile handle is now @2brosnohoes, added: “When I made the TikTok, I was like, ‘I want to put these qualities out here and just see if there’s anyone else like me, and surprisingly [an early video] got a lot of attention. There were definitely a lot of closeted guys who were a lot like me.”
On coming out to his dad, Josh continued: “It took me 20 years to understand who I was as a person, and what being gay meant. I expected it take him some time to understand it, too. I’m giving him the time he needs, and all I can ask for his is his love and support, and he’s given it to me so far.”
