The Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards, powered by Jaguar were a massive success on Wednesday night (October 9).

Hosted by Ross Mathews, the evening saw the likes of Sam Smith, Dame Joan Collins, Aids activist Ruth Coker Burks and Peppermint all picking up awards to celebrate their work within the LGBTQ community.

Sam Smith was presented with the Person of the Year Award, supported by Virgin Atlantic

Mika was presented with the Music Award

Attitude’s Editor-in-Chief Cliff Joannou with Dame Joan Collins, who was presented with the Icon Award

Cheddar Gorgeous presented Peppermint with the Inspiration Award

Shirley Ballas gave Dr Ranj Singh the Television Award

Clare Balding gave Gareth Thomas the Game Changer Award

Christine and the Queens was presented with the Artist Award, supported by Jaguar

Aids activist Ruth Coker Burks was presented with the Hero Award via video link from former US president Bill Clinton

Julian Clary gave Armistead Maupin the Literary Award

Dustin Lance Black presented the Activism Award to Stonewall Inn bartender Tree Sequoia

Attitude’s Editor-in-Chief Cliff Joannou with Taron Egerton, who was given the Film Award for his role in Rocketman

Cheryl presented the Breakthrough Award to Ava Max

Attitude columnist Amrou Al-Kadhi presented Russell T Davies with the Culture Award
