If you’ve been anywhere near the internet this past week, you’ve probably heard the viral snippet of the new Sam Smith track ‘Unholy’.

Well, the chance to hear the song live is now here.

The 30-year-old singer will be performing two shows at the Royal Albert Hall on 21 and 22 October, marking their first headline show since mid-2019.

The performance is sure to include the singer-songwriter’s bonafide hits like ‘Too Good At Goodbyes’ and ‘Stay With Me’ as well as new material.

“We are planning such a special show for you all, it’s been too long since we’ve been together!!!” Sam Smith wrote on Instagram, following the announcement.

Though Smith has teased a new album, there is little information on the details yet, however, with upcoming shows planned the announcement is sure to come soon.

On Thursday (22 September), Smith is dropping the single ‘Unholy,’ the lead single off their forthcoming album.

The track features Kim Petras and the pair have been posting snippets of the track across socials the past few weeks that consist of Petra singing along while Smith twerks in the background.

Smith shared that they are non-binary in 2019, saying they “enjoy” challenging people to understand gender-neutral terminology as they continue to feel “more comfortable” with their identity.

Smith also lead calls for gender-neutral award categories.

They wrote in a statement that music is about “unification not division” and that they hope awards shows can adapt to reflect the diverse society that we live in.

The suggestion was heard by the BRIT Awards who announced last year they would scrap the traditional male and female categories to be more inclusive of non-binary performers.

Ahead of Sam Smith’s live shows, fans who pre-order the upcoming album (from the official online store by 4 pm on 21 September) will gain access to an exclusive ticket pre-sale to the Royal Albert Hall shows.

The presale will then open from 9 am on 22 September ahead of the general sale.
