Madonna‘s The Confessions Tour film will be screened outdoors in London next month as part of The Arzner’s annual Cinema in the Square programme.

The special event, taking place on Saturday 22 August at 8.30pm in Bermondsey Square, will begin with a screening of Confessions II – The Film, followed by Madonna – The Confessions Tour. Organisers have encouraged audiences to sing and dance during the screening.

When did Madonna tour Confessions on a Dance Floor?

Filmed at London’s Wembley Arena during Madonna’s sold-out 2006 Confessions Tour, the concert film features performances spanning the singer’s career, with a focus on her Grammy-winning album Confessions on a Dance Floor. The tour was the highest-grossing worldwide in 2006.

Confessions II – The Film, the 13-minute companion to Madonna’s album of the same name, premiered at the Tribeca Festival earlier this year before being released online.

Directed by creative duo TORSO, the film soundtracks the album’s opening six tracks and features cameos from Sabrina Carpenter, Julia Garner, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kate Moss, Gwendoline Christie, Richard E. Grant, Debi Mazar, Honey Dijon, Arca, Shygirl, Lourdes Leon, Cole Palmer and João Pedro.

Where can I see Madonna’s The Confessions Tour film in London?

The screening forms part of Cinema in the Square, The Arzner’s outdoor queer cinema season, which runs across the final three weekends of August, including the Bank Holiday on 31 August. This year’s programme features 28 queer and queer-adjacent films.

A 15-minute interval will take place during The Confessions Tour. Seating is unallocated, and all ticket holders will receive wireless headphones for the screening.

What is The Arzner?

The Arzner is London’s only full-time LGBTQ+ cinema, based in Bermondsey Square.

Opened in 2024, the independent venue screens a year-round programme of queer film, documentaries, cult classics and new releases, alongside filmmaker Q&As, festivals and community events.

Cinema in the Square is its annual outdoor season, transforming Bermondsey Square into an open-air cinema for a series of queer-focused screenings each summer.

Tickets are available now via The Arzner’s website.
