The claims triggered a response from Hemsley who addressed being "outed” by the social media star

Social media personality Grant Gibbs has claimed he was banned from Grindr’s Halloween Pleasure Ball after “outing” Crumbl Cookie co-founder Sawyer Hemsley last year.
Gibbs vented on social media, alleging he had been specifically asked to be taken off the guest list because Hemsley was invited.
“I was specifically asked to be taken off the list, allegedly. Because Sawyer Hemsley was invited. Sawyer Hemsley, who, in my opinion, does nothing for this community.”

“Grindr, I have worked with this brand since 2022. I have mentioned y’all all the time. You have been in our music video. I have literally been to every single Pleasure Ball for two years. I’m like, I very much feel part of the Grindr community.”
On allegedly being blocked from the party because of Hemsley, Gibbs said: “Look, I don’t even know this man, nor do I give a fuck about this man. Sawyer Hemsley, let’s talk.”
Gibbs’ comments triggered a response from Hemsley. The pair made headlines in August last year after Gibbs posted a TikTok video speculating about the businessman’s sexuality, prompting Hemsley to come out as gay.

“Hey Grant, we’ve never met, but someone sent me your post and I wanted to reach out directly,” Hemsley replied in the comments section.
“Neither I nor anyone on my team ever asked Grindr to remove you from any guest list, and I’ve never discussed you or this event with anyone there, so I’m honestly not sure where that came from.”
On being “outed” by the social media star, Hemsley said: “I’ll admit the TikTok situation was hard for me at the time, but I’ve moved forward and hold no ill will. I hope this gets sorted out, and I wish you all the best.”
In April 2026, Gibbs stepped down from Crumbl Cookie day-to-day role
In April 2026, Hemsley stood down from his day-to-day role with the company after nine years as chief brand officer.
Alongside fellow co-founder and CEO Jason McGowan, Hemsley has continued to be involved with Crumbl Cookie as a member of the board of directors.
