Luke Evans to star in Dan Levy’s directorial debut ‘Good Grief’

The film is Dan Levy's first project under his partnership with Netflix.

Welsh star, Luke Evans, is set to star in the directorial debut of Schitt’s Creek‘s Dan Levy, Good Grief.

Alongside the Beauty and the Beast actor and Levy, who will star in the film, will be Loving‘s Ruth Negga, and Yesterday‘s Himesh Patel.

It will also star Celia Imrie (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), Arnaud Valois (Spring Blossom) David Bradley (Harry Potter), and Jamael Westman (Hamilton)

A synopsis for the film from Netflix reads: “Marc Dreyfus chose to distract himself from the loss of his mom with a comfortable marriage. But when his husband also dies, unexpectedly, Marc is forced to finally confront the grief he’s tried so hard to avoid, sending him and his two closest friends on a Parisian weekend of self-discovery.”

Good Grief marks the first project under Levy’s Not A Real Production Company and Netflix’s creative partnership and is based on a script written by the Schitt’s Creek creator.

Dan Levy, a four-time Emmy Winner, says, “Good Grief is a cautionary tale about friendship and loss and all the mess that comes with it when the truth is something you’ve evaded for most of your life. It’s funny, it’s bittersweet, it’s a project that has helped me work through my own grief. And I hope it does the same for other people as well.”

Posting about the casting announcement Levy wrote on Twitter: “Well, this is a g d dream come true!”

Good Grief is being produced by Not A Real Production Company’s Dan Levy, Megan Zehmer; Sister’s Stacey Snider, Kate Fenske, Debra Hayward

Luke Evans has recently been seen in the 2022 remake of the Disney classic, Pinocchio alongside Tom Hanks, Cynthia Erivo, and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth. He is set to be heard in the new animated feature, Scrooge: A Christmas Carol which will debut on Netflix in December.

He is set to release his second album on 4 November.
