Zac Efron has confirmed that he has met with the makers of the new Star Wars movie about a possible role in Episode VII.

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled for release on December 18, 2015 and director JJ Abrams (Star Trek, Lost) is due to start shooting in the UK shortly. Last month (January) Abrams confirmed that the film’s script is now complete.

During a MTV interview to promote his new movie That Awkward Moment, Efron and his co-stars Michael B Jordan and Miles Teller were asked which of the three was most likely to land a part in the new Star Wars film.

“Yeah, I just went and met with them,” Efron volunteered. “So I don’t know. It would be cool. I love [the Star Wars films], I love them, but… who knows?”

Casting for the new Star Wars movie has been the subject of much speculation online. Original stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill are all believed to be returning, though none is officially on board.

Meanwhile, in addition to Efron, Breaking Bad actor Jesse Plemons and Atonement actress Saoirse Ronan are known to have met with the makers about a potential role in the film.
