Wilson Cruz has revealed he’s returning to Star Trek: Discovery for its second season.

The former Attitude cover star played Dr Hugh Culber, the ship’s medical officer, and the boyfriend of Lieutenant Paul Stamets, played by Anthony Rapp.

The first season of the show was praised for its inclusion of the couple and even gave us the first-ever gay kiss in the Star Trek franchise. However, Discovery was hit with criticism when Hugh was killed off.

Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con yesterday, however, Cruz confirmed his character is somehow returning to the show.

He said: “I’m not here just to say hello. We knew it was the first chapter in a long love story. This was just a bump in the road… in my neck.”

During the Discovery panel, it was also revealed that the second season, expected to air in 2019, will introduce Spock.
