Will Young confirmed for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing
By Will Stroude
Will Young is the second celebrity to be announced on this year’s line-up of Strictly Come Dancing, following the confirmation of former Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls yesterday (August 8).
The singer-songwriter, who officially joined Tinder in June, tweeted that he was “So excited!” to be joining the show, after the Strictly Twitter account announced their ‘Celebrity Reveal’ was the 2002 Pop Idol winner.

The 37 year old, whose new EP Summer Covers is out on August 26, said in a statement: “As a fan of Strictly for years, I have always imagined myself on the show, but the timing has not been right… until now!”
The EP is a brand new collection of fan favourite covers that range from Joni Mitchell to the Buzzcocks and follows on Will’s fourth No.1 Album, 85 % Proof, which was released last year.
Will’s had an amazing few years that’s seen him be nominated for an Olivier Award for his role in Cabaret, co-produce the Gerard Butler/Ralph Fiennes film Coriolanus, and acting as a spokesman for various charities (including WWF, Stonewall & Soi Dogs).
Perhaps Will might waltz to his new music on this year’s Strictly…
