Which types of porn have been banned in the UK?

By Sam Rigby

The British Board of Film Censors (BBFC) has introduced new legislation banning certain types of pornography from being produced in the UK.

The new ruling means that any adult movies featuring acts such as fisting, strangulation and “aggressive” whipping can no longer be made in the UK – though viewers can still engage in the activities themselves and watch videos featuring the acts provided they were produced abroad.

Other acts banned from being filmed by UK porn producers include: spanking, caning, penetration by objects “associated with violence”, physical or verbal abuse (even if consensual), urolagnia (also known as ‘water sports’), female ejaculation and facesitting.

The BBFC have described strangulation, facesitting and fisting as “life-endangering” acts.

Jerry Barnett, from the anti-censorship group Sex and Censorship, told Vice UK: “There appear to be no rational explanations for most of the R18 rules. They’re simply a set of moral judgements designed by people who have struggled endlessly to stop the British people from watching pornography.”

The Attitude Sex Issue will be available to download on Friday (December 5), and will be in stores next Wednesday (December 10).
