The final trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has been released and it teases the end of a fan favourite character.

The upcoming film – which is set to hit cinemas on December 20 this year – will end the current Skywalker saga and there is so much to take from the new trailer.

We know Rey (Daisy Ridley), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Finn (John Boyega) and Princess Leia – played by the late great Carrie Fisher – will all return as well as Anthony Daniels as C-3PO.

After the release of the first trailer earlier this year, we know that somehow Emperor Palpatine survived the events of The Return of the Jedi and is back with a vengence – with Ian McDiarmid reprising the iconic role.

Now the new trailer teases the confrontation between Palpatine and Rey and we see Rey and Kylo Ren teaming up to end some evil – but they are also seen fighting each other, much like Obi-Wan and Anakin in The Revenge of the Sith.

One of the biggest moments in the trailer teases the end of a fan favourite and long-running Star Wars character – the droid protocol C-3PO.

In the trailer, we see him attached to a machine and when asked by Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) what he is doing, the droid replies: “Taking one last look sir, at my friends.”
