Jonathan Groff has discussed, very frankly, what it was like to shoot the sex scenes in Looking.

The actor – who plays Patrick in the HBO series about a group of gay friends living in San Francisco – revealed that these scenes required some pretty unique props.

“The intimacy on Looking is pretty challenging,” Groff said in an interview with Variety. “We are in nothing but a dick sock and an anal cover, and my legs are in the air or whatever…”

The actor then continued: “So I feel like in some way those scenes are the most challenging and the easiest at the same time because you have to walk on set in that way. Everybody is very supportive, but it’s exposing.”

Groff will begin shooting season two of Looking on location in San Francisco later this year. The new season will air on HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2015.

Meanwhile, earlier this week Groff revealed that falling in love for the first time gave him the “impetus” to come out as gay publicly.
