Watch | Go behind the scenes of ‘Carol’ in revealing new featurette

By Will Stroude

After months of hype, Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara’s period drama Carol has finally hit UK screens, and a newly-released featurette gives a fascinating insight into the making of what’s already being heralded as a modern classic.

Based on Patricia Highsmith’s 1952 novel The Price of Salt, Carol follows the story of a young woman in her 20s working as a department-store clerk (Mara) who falls for an older, married woman (Blanchett), and both actresses are already being tipped for Oscar glory.

The Todd Haynes-directed piece also stars the newly coupled-up Sarah Paulson, who argued earlier this month that she’s not more of a visible LGBT figure because she refuses to ‘define’ herself – click here to read more.

The featurette includes interviews with Haynes, Blanchett, and Paulson, and whether you’ve seen Carol yet or not, it’s a provoking insight into a film that’s almost assured to be top of every awards list come 2016.

Meanwhile, we recently caught up with the cast and crew ourselves to find out more about the film – you can read our chat in full here.
