By Fabio Crispim

US singer Ryan Beatty has come out as gay.

The 20-year-old shared the news on Instagram yesterday (June 28) posting  a photo of a couple with a balloon reading, ‘Gay power’.

Alongside the image, Beatty declared himself a “raging homosexual”, adding that he’d been “suffocating” in the closet his entire life.

“Proud to be a raging homosexual,” he wrote. “It’s taken 20 years of suffocating in the closet for me to become comfortable enough to say it, but now I can finally breathe. I did it!”

The singer grew a following over the years with his YouTube covers and his EP entitled, ‘Because of You’.

Beatty has previously toured with Cody Simpson and is getting ready to release his debut single, ‘Passion’ on July 1.

He also tweeted, saying he was “so happy” he was gay.

Friends, family and fans all congratulated Beatty for coming out and he thanked them on Twitter.

Beatty wrote, “I’m so grateful to have friends and family that support me and just want me to be happy. That’s unconditional love.”

He tweeted one last time and said, “Thank you to anyone who’s reached out to me wit the supportive words. I’m so happy.”
