actor Joe Manganiello has revealed he has started writing a spin-off centred on his character in the hit HBO show.

Manganiello, who plays buff werewolf Alcide Herveaux in the long-running vampire drama series, has revealed he doesn’t want to say goodbye to his character when True Blood draws to an end later this year.

“I’d love to play Alcide again,” Manganiello told our friends at Digital Spy.

“In fact, a year ago I started writing a story for an Alcide movie, or comic book series. I would love to return maybe in a movie. I would love to do it again.”

He then said of Alcide: “I think there’s a lot left on the table that wasn’t explored. At the end of the day, the show had nothing to do with my character for a few years. So I think there’s a lot more left to explore, I love the character.”

The final season of True Blood is currently airing in the US, and begins tonight (July 7) in the UK at 9pm on FOX.

Meawhile, actor Luke Grimes was recently forced to deny that he quit his role on True Blood because he didn’t want to appear in a gay storyline – click here for the full story.
