Troye Sivan looks awfully confident in the trailer for the highly anticipated HBO Max drama The Idol.

What is promised as “the sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood,” The Idol follows Lily-Rose Depp as a rising pop singer dating a Los Angeles club owner and cult leader played by The Weeknd.

Opening with the caveat “from the sick and twisted minds of the creator of Euphoria,” the Sam Levinson-helmed show features the ‘Bloom’ singer in a so far unidentified role.

While Sivan’s, 27, appearance in the trailer is brief – he smirks wide-eyed opposite The Weeknd, who served as co-writer and executive producer on the project alongside Levinson – he is surrounded by drug-fuelled party scenes, hookups and intense dance rehearsals.

Sivan last appeared in the coming-of-age drama Three Months, a film about a young man awaiting the results of a HIV test that he hoped would help educate people on the misinformation around a HIV diagnosis.

With the drop of the trailer, Sivan posted a selfie of himself and fellow actor Depp, 23, with the caption: “I luv this girl i really do!!”

While we know little to nothing about the character Sivan is playing, his closeness to his co-star may suggest they share numerous scenes, a pop star befriending a pop star.

The ‘Seventeen’ singer recently told W Magazine he was “having the best time” on set for The Idol.

“I think because [filming] has been such a long time and it’s been so consistent I feel like, ‘Oh, I could really, really do this,’” he said. “Not even from an ability point of view, just from an enjoyment point of view.”

He continued: “The quality of every single aspect of a production like this is so inspiring to watch. It’s just a crazy experience, it’s been so fun.

The Idol also stars Steve Zissi, Melanie Liburd, Tunde Adebimpe, Elizabeth Berkley, Nico Hiraga, Anne Heche, Debbie Ryan, and Hari Nef.

The Attitude July/August issue is out now.
