Transparent returns with emotional new season three trailer – WATCH

By Will Stroude

The Pfefferman family are back with a brand new trailer for Transparent’s third season, and by the looks of things life for the clan is as dramatic as always.

The landmark show follows the fictional family as they adjust to parent Maura, played by Jeffrey Tambor, revealing that she is transgender, and her subsequent transition.

Teasing what’s in store for viewers when the new season kicks off, Amazon said, “All paths converge on a family cruise to Mexico, affirming that though their family history is murky, each Pfefferman is their truest self when they come together.”

The trailer shows Maura at her birthday party. Upon blowing out her cake candles, she admits that “One of the things I wished for is that you don’t call me ‘moppa’ anymore … I thought you guys could start calling me ‘mom.’”

The clip also shows Maura consulting with her doctor about her transition and feminisation.

While the show revolves around Maura, the rest of the family will have their own issues to deal with, as they continue to adjust to having a transgender parent. As Judith Light, who plays Maura’s ex-wife Shelley on the show puts it: “when one person in a family transitions, everyone transitions.”
