Tom Holland’s ‘Spider-Man’ no longer in MCU after Disney and Sony fail to come to a deal
The actor has portrayed the webslinger for five films in the MCU

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is reportedly out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Disney and Sony fail to come to a financial deal.
Sony Pictures currently own the rights to Spider-Man and came to an agreement with Marvel Studios – who is owned by Disney – to introduce the character into the MCU, meaning the two studios would share profits from each film.
So far Spider-Man – who has been played by British actor Tom Holland – has appeared in five films including Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Far From Home – which featured Marvel’s first openly trans actors – has become Sony’s highest grossing film of all time.
But now, reports that Sony and Disney have failed to come to a financial agreement has left everyone worried whether the webslinger will be seen in future MCU movies.
Even Jeremy Renner, who stars as Hawkeye in the MCU, called for Sony to let Marvel continue to keep Spider-Man in the popular franchise.
Sony tweeted that they are ‘disappointed’ that a deal hasn’t been made but thanked Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige for his ‘help and guidance’ with the franchise.
Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise. We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film. (1/3)

Since buying the rights to the Marvel comic book character back in 1999, Sony has produced five standalone films – three with Tobey Maguire and two with Andrew Garfield.
Although many fans are worried about Spider-Man’s future in the MCU, Tom Holland – who was described as the perfect incarnation of the character by Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee – is still contracted to two films with Sony.

This means we will still be able to see Holland as the iconic character but there will no be any mention of other MCU characters since Sony do not own the rights to them.
However, this could possibly now mean that we will be able to see Holland go up against Tom Hardy’s Venom… silver lining?
