Tom Hanks wants to “romance” Channing Tatum in remake of 1984 Splash film

By Fabio Crispim

Looks like even Tom Hanks can’t resist the charming looks of Channing Tatum.

Tatum is set to star as the merman in the reboot of Disney’s Splash. The original starred Hanks as Allen Bauer, a man who reunites with a mermaid (Daryl Hannah) who saved him from drowning as a boy. He  quickly falls in love with her without knowing who she actually is.

When the Associated Press asked Hanks about the reboot of the 1984 classic, he only had one question on his mind: “What’s that about?”

“No one asked me… Look, I think if they were really going to be bold, I would come back as Allen Bauer, and I would go off with Channing Tatum.”

“That would be a bold movie,” he adds. “And I am suggesting it right now.”

We can only hope this becomes a thing.

Jillian Bell is set to star alongside Tatum in the upcoming reboot.
