Tina Fey takes on Sarah Palin’s Trump endorsement

Tina Fey returned to Saturday Night Live last night to revive her famed Sarah Palin impression.
It comes in the week that the darling of the Republican party endorsed Donald Trump for the presidency, in a bizarre rally speech in the U.S. state of Iowa.
Mocking Palin, Fey turned up in an identical outfit to the one she wore this week saying, “So many of us have lost our jobs at the factory, or our reality shows about Alaska,” adding that she had taken time out from her full time job of “writing things on Facebook” to be there.
“We’ve seen our own children targeted by police for no reason other than that they committed some crimes,” she joked, referencing an incident in which Palin’s son was arrested this week for domestic violence; something the Republican commentator then claimed was the fault of President Obama.
As she has done in the past, Fey even recited some of the more peculiar parts of Palin’s original speech word for word.
Portraying Donald Trump, the comedian Darrell Hammond added: “Isn’t she great? Just the total package: smart, legs, yelling, everything.”
Fey first impersonated Palin during the 2008 presidential election, when the Alaska governor was selected as the Republican vice-presidential candidate. A striking similarity between the two women meant much hilarity ensued.
Fey later won a special Emmy Award for her performances throughout the campaign season, in which her comedy partner in crime Amy Poehler played Hillary Clinton.
Tina Fey was a full time SNL cast member from 1997 to 2006, and has made various reappearances since then.
She created the hit show 30 Rock, which parodied her time on the comedy show, and last year debuted her latest creation on Netflix, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which returns for a second season this April.
