The Spice Girls have officially reunited

Girl power is for life, not just the '90s.

By Will Stroude

After what’s been quite literally years of ‘will they, won’t they’, the news Spice Girls fans have been praying for has finally come: The girls are back together.

Victoria Beckhma, Geri Horner, Emma Bunton, Mel C and Mel B confirmed that they had reunited to work on “new opportunities” together after sharing a picture of themselves at Geri’s Hertfordshire home on Friday (February 2).

Geri declared that girl power was “alive and well” as she posted the first picture of all five women together since 2012, when they performed at the London Olympics closing ceremony.

In a joint statement, the group said: “We have enjoyed a wonderful afternoon catching up and reminiscing about the amazing times we have spent together.

“We are always overwhelmed at how much interest there is across the whole world for the Spice Girls.

“The time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together.

“We all agree that there are many exciting possibilities that will once again embrace the original essence of the Spice Girls, while reinforcing our message of female empowerment for future generations.”

The surprise reunion comes after plans for a 20-year reunion were scrapped in 2016 after Victoria and Mel C decided to leave their Spice legacy in the past.

Victoria, aka Posh Spice, said as recently as last November that a reunion was “not happening”.

“At some point you’ve got to know when it’s time. I don’t think I’ll be slipping into a PVC catsuit anytime soon,” the fashion designer said.

While the PVC may still be out, The Sun reports that Posh, Sporty, Scary, Baby and Ginger could be planning a new TV show, endorsement deals, and a brand new compilation album.

Way to Spice up our 2018, girls.
