The gay character in Marvel’s The Eternals has been revealed… and it’s not Richard Madden.

Earlier this year, Marvel Studios were reportedly actively looking for an LGBTQ actor to play a gay character in the upcoming movie The Eternals, based on the Marvel comic series written by Jack Kirby.

The Eternals – which is one of Marvel’s lesser known series – are a species of humans who were created to be the defenders of Earth, which lead to the inevitability of war against their destructive counterparts, the Deviants.

During San Diego Comic Con, the entire cast of the new MCU superheroes were revealed and includes the likes of Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan, Kumail Nanjiani and Brian Tyree Henry.

While at D23 Expo, it was announced that Game of Thrones star Kit Harington will also star in the upcoming film as Dane Whitman aka Black Knight.

After the announcement that this would mark Marvel’s first out superhero, many speculated Madden’s Ikaris would be the one to make MCU history.

However, according to We Got This Covered, footage screened at CCXP 2019 has revealed that Brian Tyree Henry’s character Phastos was seen holding hands with a male partner and two kids.

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige previously teased the character saying he is married with a family.
