Taylor Swift teases new music with cryptic clues

By Josh Haggis

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift has hinted that she has new music on the way – and sooner rather than later.

The 23-year-old singer has uploaded various clues onto her social media accounts over the past week, and challenged fans to try to decipher them.

Earlier this week, she uploaded a video of herself pushing the #18 button on a lift repeatedly. Next, she tweeted a picture featuring her cat, the time 5pm, and a drawing of New York City. Finally, the third clue, released yesterday (August 7), was a photo of the Yahoo! homepage, with a message written in the search bar, saying “this is clue number 3”.

If we had to guess what the clues mean, we’d place our bets on an album announcement via a Yahoo! Live Stream at 5pm on August 18. Check out the clues below, and let us know your thoughts:

Swift has also been confirmed to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on August 24, where she is expected to sing her new new single. Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Beyonce and Rihanna are among the other confirmed performers at the event.

Swift’s last album, Red, was released in October 2012 and debuted at Number One in both the UK and US. It has now sold over six million copies worldwide after spawning the hits We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, I Knew You Were Trouble, 22 and Everything Has Changed.

Meanwhile, it has been announced that Beyonce will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award at this year’s VMAs. Find out more here.
