Strictly pros drag up and slay same-sex dance in ‘Priscilla’-themed performance

Brb, just watching this forever.

By Will Stroude

Strictly Come Dancing made history this year with its first same-sex partnership between Olympic boxer Nicola Adams and Katya Jones, and the BBC ballroom series continued to nail its rainbow colours to the mast on Saturday (5 December) with an opening number that may just go down as the gayest thing ever seen on the show.

It’s a 10 from us, naturally.

Saturday night’s Musicals-themed episode opened with a fierce AF tribute to 1994 Australian drag comedy film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert as the professionals danced to ‘Go West’ before bursting into a spectacular routine to the sound of CeCe Peniston’s ‘Finally’.

The dance was led by by Johannes Radebe, Gorka Marquez and Giovanni Pernice, who served face, body and buckets of sass in full drag while waving rainbow-coloured fans.

It only got better from there as the boys ripped off their flared trousers to reveal glittering dresses before pairing up with fellow male pros including Graziano Di Prima and Aljaž Škorjanec for a glorious same-sex routine.

The uplifting scenes come after Strictly pro Johannes previously opened up to Attitude about the “terrible” homophobic bullying he was subjected to growing up in South Africa.

Sharing a picture of himself, Marquez and Pernice backstage in make-up on Instagram, the 33-year-old included a series of rainbow-coloured heart emojis as he paid tribute to his fellow dancers.

“I work with a fab bunch of people but I wanted to shout-out to these two for shamelessly putting the motion in every single part, fierce enough to strut their stuff…”, wrote Radebe.
