What a pleasant surprise! Dan Levy, the star and creator of the sensational series, Schitt’s Creek is joining Sex Education in a recurring role season four!

The actor, well known for his iconic role as David Rose, is seen briefly in a short promo for the next season of the hit Netflix show.

A bespectacled Dan can be seen sitting at a desk towered over by Emma Mackey’s character Maeve.

Given how the last season of Sex Education finished with Maeve going off to America for an educational programme, we’re guessing this is where Dan’s character, Mr. Molloy, comes in.

Elsewhere in the promo, Asa Butterfield’s Otis is seen reclining on his sofa with Ruby (Mimi Keene). The two had a brief fling in the last season before Otis told Ruby “That’s nice” when she admitted she loved him. Unsurprisingly, the two broke up shortly after.

But it appears as if they may be getting back together… Or are at least on speaking terms.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Levy is one of seven new faces joining Sex Education. He will be joined by Doctor Who‘s Thaddea Graham, Kamikaze‘s Marie Reuther, and newcomers Felix Mufti, Anthony Lexa, Alexandra James, and Imani Yahshua.

The casting comes not long off the back of the news that four cast members were leaving.

Patricia Allison (Ola), Tanya Reynolds (Lily), Simone Ashley (Olivia), and Rahkee Thakrar (Emily) have all said they won’t be returning. Ncuti Gatwa is confirmed to be returning despite taking on the role of Doctor Who.

As reported by THR a synopsis for season 4 reads: “Following the closure of Moordale Secondary, Otis and Eric now face a new frontier — their first day at Cavendish Sixth Form College. Otis is nervous about setting up his new clinic, while Eric is praying they won’t be losers again.

“But Cavendish is a culture shock for all the Moordale students — they thought they were progressive but this new college is another level. There’s daily yoga in the communal garden, a strong sustainability vibe, and a group of kids who are popular for being … kind?! V

“Viv is totally thrown by the college’s student-led, non-competitive approach, while Jackson is still struggling to get over Cal. Aimee tries something new by taking an Art A Level and Adam grapples with whether mainstream education is for him.

“Over in the U.S., Maeve is living her dream at prestigious Wallace University, being taught by cult author Thomas Molloy. Otis is pining after her, while adjusting to not being an only child at home, or the only therapist on campus.”

THR also reports that filming is underway and expected to go on until the end of the year meaning we won’t be back with the gang until 2023.

The Attitude September/October issue is out now.
