Sarah Jessica Parker officially shuts down hopes for Sex and the City 3

We need to take a minute.

Sex and the City is dead and buried.

That’s the official line from Sarah Jessica Parker, who says Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha won’t be brough back to life following the last-minute cancellation of the hit TV show’s third big screen outing last year.

The long-awaited movie had been due to go into production last autumn, but was reportedly canned just days before the cameras were due to roll after actess Kim Cattrall (Samantha) refused to sign on.

Cattrall later hinted at some serious animosity between herself and her former co-stars, branding their relationship “toxic”.

Asked by Entertainment Tonight on the Golden Globes red carpet whether there was “any chance” of SATC3 happening in the future, the show’s lead Sarah Jessica Parker waivered before shutting down our dreams of a 20-year reunion for the girls.

“I mean, not as far as I can imagine. Unless…” the 52-year-old actress began, before adding: “I mean, no. No.”

Parker, who currently stars in US comedy series Divorce, said of SATC3’s demise: “I struggle with it because it’s a bit sad, but I think one must keep these things in perspective.

“I have a lot of incredible memories, singular memories, that are shared among those four women, and I’m incredibly grateful for the experience…

“I forever love having had that time with those women.”

Well, perhaps just three of them by the sounds of it…
