Rylan Clark has apparently landed a record deal with major label Universal.

The former X Factor finalist would join artists including Cheryl and will.i.am on the label, but he is reportedly planning to release his music under a different name to avoid stigma.

Clark appeared on the ITV singing contest two years ago, and was branded a “joke” by Gary Barlow.

Since appearing on The X Factor, Rylan has won Celebrity Big Brother, before being made the full-time presenter of its spin-off show Big Brother’s Bit on the Side. He also serves as a co-presenter of This Morning.

He is now said to be working on dance tracks for his first release, and a so-called “friend” has apparently told The Sun that fans can expect to hear the material later this year.

Last month (June), Rylan spoke about being ‘trolled’ on Twitter, saying that he often receives abuse for his teeth and the tightness of his jeans – read more here.

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Simon Cowell and The X Factor production team want the show to be more “camp and fun” this year – read more about the plans for the new series here.
