RuPaul’s Netflix original series ‘AJ and The Queen’ gets premiere date and first trailer

We're gagging.

By Will Stroude

Just when you though RuPaul had peaked after bagging himself two consecutive Emmy Awards for his work on Drag Race, the original drag superstar of the world has landed himself his own Netflix original comedy series.

Co-created by Sex and the City’s Charles and Michael Patrick King, AJ and The Queen is set to arrive on the streaming giant on 10 January 2020 – and we’ve got our first glimpse at what’s in store in a brand new teaser trailer.

The scripted series sees Ru star as Robert Lee, aka drag queen Ruby Red, who goes on a cross-country roadshow after being swindled by hustlers only to find himself landed with a 10-year-old street kid named AJ (Izzy G.) who stows away in his van.

With each episode set to include a musical performance by Ru, we’ve got high hopes that AJ and The Queen is going to provide some heartwarming nourishment for our very soul when it arrives in just under eight weeks’ time.

AJ and The Queen premieres on Netflix on 10 January 2020. Check out the first trailer below:
